Low Fat “Health Foods” Can Make You Fat

There are many so called “health foods” on the market that claim to be good for you and will help you to lose weight. Unfortunately these pre packaged heath meals are not always what they seem to be, and they may actually be doing the opposite to what you think. In other words they might be keeping you fat!

The selling point that all of these health meal and snacks have is that they are low in fat, which would be great, but unfortunately it tends to be the fat which gives foods the rich flavour. So something needs to be added to replace the flavouring that the fat brings, this is when the carbohydrates are added, but they are not healthy natural carbs, they are refined processed carbs.

The Processed and Refined Carbohydrates are definitely the bad carbs! The refining and processing removes any goodness that they may have held before, and leaves them as just empty calories with no nutrients, vitamins or minerals that the body can use. Even worse than that when digested the refined carbohydrates or sugars actually drain the body of nutrients and minerals!

Sound bad so far? Well that’s just the tip of the iceberg! Refined sugars have been found to contribute to increases in body fat, cholesterol, and an increase in insulin levels. They have also been linked to a decrease in the immune system and the body’s natural growth hormones.

These Refined carbohydrates also known as refined sugars, which they put in these low fat “health meals” are also used in junk foods such as:

  • Cakes
  • Biscuits
  • Sweets
  • Any food with white flour in (white pasta, white bread, etc.)
  • Pastries
  • Ready meals
  • Table sugar
  • Fizzy drinks (non-diet)
  • Any Fast Food meals (thought I’d better not name and shame here!)

The list goes on, but I think you get the point, you would eat all of these things when trying to lose weight, so why would you eat something that has the same stuff in it!

Avoiding these processed carbohydrates will make a huge difference when you are trying to lose weight. Rather than eating low fat “health meals”, you should be aiming to eat natural foods, the less processed by man the better. To succeed in weight loss the key is to ignore all of these adverts trying to sell you there products that are supposed to help you lose weight and take it in your own hands! Eat natural foods, such as fruits, vegetables and lean meats.

Make these changes to your eating habits, and I guarantee you will be amazed at the results you will get!
